“Bellota” cured ham, sliced into 100g portions, is a product of the 50% Iberian breed. The term “bellota” literally translates to “acorn” in Spanish, referencing the diet of the pigs used to produce this ham. The production of Bellota ham is a meticulous and lengthy process. The hams are rubbed with sea salt to aid preservation and enhance flavor. Following this, they are hung in special drying rooms known as “bodegas” where they undergo a maturation process. The final result is Bellota ham characterized by its intense dark red color, melting texture, and complex yet delicate flavor. Intramuscular fat gives ham a juicy and tender texture, while the taste is both salty and sweet with hints of hazelnut from the pigs’ acorn diet.
To enhance the taste experience, please remove the product from its vacuum packaging and let it breathe in open air for at least 45 minutes before enjoying it.
The thin slices allow for a better appreciation of the intense flavor and melting texture of the ham.
